Abstract

In this article, we investigate the RCS of a rectangular plate embedded in Martian soil. The motivation is to provide an analysis of the electrical properties, complex permittivity and permeability of a soil within the frequency range  that can be expected on the surface of Mars. These values will provide useful information concerning the performance of a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) on Mars. The results are presented over the frequency range of interest and numerical results are compared with the free space
