PERFORMANCE COMPARISON OF AODV, DSR, DSDV, AND OLSR UNDER DYNAMIC MANET ENVIRONMENTS
Abstract
Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) are wireless networks without infrastructure where mobile nodes interact over wireless connections and create network topologies on the fly. Effective routing protocols are crucial for dependable communication because of node mobility and frequent topology changes. Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), Destination-Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), and Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) are only a few of the routing protocols created for MANETs. This study uses the Network Simulator (NS-2) to compare the performance of AODV, DSR, DSDV, and OLSR. Key performance parameters such packet delivery ratio, throughput, end-to-end delay, and routing overhead were used to assess the protocols. The outcomes of the simulation show each protocol's advantages and disadvantages in various network scenarios. The best routing protocol for MANET setups was found based on the investigation. The results offer helpful recommendations for choosing appropriate routing protocols in deployments of mobile ad hoc networks.
