Abstract

The paper will analyze how it is possible to optimize the manufacturing of aerospace components through the effective implementation of a blend of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems. The research is founded on the optimization of the manufacturing process, precision and quality of the products by means of the systematic design of CAD/CAM process and the subsequent generation of the feature recognition and tool tracks with the CAM software. parametric design The aerospace component is a highly complicated component and the model is established with the help of the parametric design tools and the feature recognition and tool tracks are produced with the assistance of the CAM software. The CNC machining simulation is done to compare the performance increase in terms of production time, consumption of materials and machining accuracy.

The findings indicate that the integrated CAD/CAM is saving significant production time about a third of the time, and reduces material wastes by approximately a quarter. Optimized toolpaths will result in the increase of quality of surfaces and efficiency of machining, meanwhile the adequate information transfer between CAD and CAM systems will decrease any mistakes and enhance credibility of the operation. Another aspect that is highlighted as significant in the integration of the workflow is system compatibility, post-processing optimization, and automation (Sahay and Chatterton, 2007).

This is because this study is meant to simplify the procedure of integrating the CAD and CAM in order to improve manufacturing performance and quality of goods in the aerospace components manufacturing. It presents a predetermined procedure of the CAD/CAM process that contains parametric modeling, recognition, and simulation of CNC machining. It is applied to a complex aerospace component and demonstrates that the time spent on production is decreased by 30 percent, and materials waste is minimized by 25 percent. Some of the main aspects that are examined during the CAD/CAM integration include data exchange format, optimization of toolpath, machine specific post-processing. The results have shown benefits of a seamless CAD/CAM process in the reduction of lead times and competitive manufacturing.
